The Viscardi Center is reimagining a media platform that includes the publishing of a monthly print/digital newspaper and accompanying website, covering the New York City and Long Island disability community, and is looking for a motivated sales representative to join our team.  This is an opportunity to be part of taking a 30+ year, award-winning newspaper to the next level and assist in bringing the new vision to life.  This is a part-time position with a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities:

• Reporting to the Senior VP of Public Affairs and Marketing, growing the media outlet’s advertising base by contacting current, inactive and prospective advertisers by telephone, email, virtual platforms and networking/related events.
• Selling print and digital advertising units (A robust digital presence is in development).
• Prospecting and establishing new client relationships.
• Conducting needs analyses and developing customized advertising proposals, negotiating rates and contracts for ad space.
• Collecting and tracking advertising artwork.
• Issuing insertion orders and coordinating invoicing to advertisers.
• Working collaboratively with the editor and accounting team and assisting with the growth and management of the subscription base, as well as assisting with the development and implementation of sales strategies and best practices.
• Maintaining and analyzing sales data to report sales activity and customer information.

Compensation:

Hourly Pay + Commission

• Strong interpersonal/customer service communication, computer and writing skills, including knowledge/use of Salesforce (or similar sales tracking system), Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams.
• Be comfortable with cold-calling.
• Have the ability to develop and manage a growing advertiser base.
• Have a High School diploma or equivalent.
• Be highly motivated, be able to learn quickly, multi-task, and work effectively to meet deadlines.
